Finish Note (Raw Steel): Rocket Stoves with a Raw Steel exterior are best for longevity and high-use applications. A Raw Steel stove that is regularly treated with oil will develop a natural patina, much like cast iron, and provide for a good quality low-maintenance Rocket Stove. Raw Steel is the recommended finish for Rocket Stoves.
Finish Note (Painted): Rocket Stoves with a Painted Exterior are better suited for lower use applications. Rocket Stoves that are painted are subject to paint failure, and will not be warrantied for paint failures. Rocket Stoves are painted with ultra high-temp paint, but over time the paint will fail due to excess heating and cooling (expanding and contracting). If the paint fails on your rocket stove, the best resolution is to clean the surface with a wire wheel and re-paint.
